Kyu Grade Championships
22nd November 2009
Match Report
The Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Centre in Walton on Thames played host to yet another successful Kyu Grade Championships for JKA England.
A well attended event by clubs and students from around the country, the tournament started with kata eliminations. This attracted a number of competitors which led from first round stages to finals just before lunch. The successful final competitors were in for treat as Sensei Chubachi, visiting JKA Honbu instructor, presented the winners with their medals and certificates. We were also honoured to have Sensei Chubachi judge some of the events, in addition to a significant number of JKA England Referees and Judges.
After a short break, the kumite events commenced with competitors either competing Kihon Ippon or Sanbon Kumite elimination rounds. There were some fine displays from a number of students who performed well to go through to the final rounds. Finalists were again presented with their medals and certificates from Sensei Chubachi and Sensei Ohta.
JKA England would like to thank all those students, spectators, instructors and clubs that competed. We hope you found it a valuable and worthwhile experience.
We would also like to thank the Events officer, Roger Fabri and all the referees, judges, timekeepers and officials for the smooth running of the event on the day and preparation beforehand.
